Free Treatment cum Acupressure Awareness Camps at Magh Mela, Allahabad: 13 Jan - 20 Feb 02

Magh mela is a religious annual congregation of saints and pilgrims at Sangam Allahabad and is held on the same pattern as Kumbh mela but on a smaller scale. It is over a month long event in the months of Jan & Feb. The Sansthan established five free treatment camps in the mela area from 13 Jan to 20 Feb 02 for the benefit of mela visitors. While two camps were established directly by the Sansthan, three camps were established in the premises of holy sects. About 7000 patients were treated in these camps. About 50 therapists from the Sansthan provided their services during this free treatment camp. Acupressure awareness classes were also held daily at the Sansthan’s main camp for the benefit of mela visitors.


Interactive Training Session of Therapists at Kolkota: 18-19 Feb 02

An interactive training session for the benefit of therapists of all Kolkota based affiliate centers was organized at Kolkota on 18 & 19 Feb 02 by Ms. Neelam Boobna, the senior therapist of Salt Lake Sanskritik Kendra, Kolkota. Two therapists from the Sansthan, Shri Alok Kamalia and Ms. Archana Trivedi were sent from Allahabad to Kolkota to attend and guide this training session.


Founding of Acupressure Research Center & Hospital at Allahabad: 27 Mar 02

27 Mar 02 was one of the most important mile stones in the history of the Sansthan as it was on this day that the Sansthan established ‘Acupressure Research Center & Hospital’ in a building acquired by it and located at 49/24A, Minto Road, Allahabad. The hospital was founded with a view to providing free acupressure treatment to out patients on all days of the week including Sundays. The Sansthan finally had its own building and all its wings moved out from the borrowed premises of Marwari Dharmshala to this building. This building in fact became the head quarters of the Sansthan.

The Acupressure Research Center & Hospital, the first of its kind in India, was dedicated to the public at a grand ceremony by his Excellency, the governor of Rajasthan, Honorable Justice Anshuman Singh on this day. The ceremonial function was presided over by Justice Prem Shankar Gupt. The distinguished guest list on this occasion included Justice Girdhar Malviya, Justice S.R. Singh, Justice B.K. Rathi, Justice V.K. Chaturvedi and Justice Ashok Bhushan amongst other leading lights of the city. Hundreds of distinguished invitees attended the inaugural function.

Diwali Celebrations

Diwali ‘puja’ was performed in the Sansthan’s premises during the morning of 4 Nov 02 by Sansthan’s president Shri Mata Prasad Khemka and other members. A Diwali mela was organized in the Sansthan’s premises during the evening of 6 Nov 02 and attended by a large gathering. An acupressure exhibition was also organized on this occasion.

Fourth National Acupressure Conference cum Super Advance Training at Allahabad:  23 – 29 Dec 02

Fourth national acupressure conference cum super advance training was held at Allahabad from 23 to 29 Dec 02. Venue Rajshri Purushottam Das Tandon Mandapam hall, Allahabad. The Sansthan was fortunate in having his Excellency, the governor of Uttar Pradesh Acharya Vishnu Kant Shastri and honorable union human resource minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi grace the opening ceremony of the conference. The distinguished guest list included Justice Prem Shankar Gupt and Justice Girdhar Malviya. The governor also released the book ‘A Treatise on Advance Acupressure- Part VII’ authored by Sansthan’s president Shri Mata Prasad Khemka on this occasion.

A number of papers were read during the conference. Advanced subjects such as extra ordinary vessels, joint therapy, tri-origin concept, number therapy, fundamentals of Chinese acupuncture (Treatise VII), etc were covered during the training. 685 trainees attended the event.

Academy Courses During 2002

  • Pre Basic I Course.  During the period Jun to Nov 02, classes were held on first four Sundays of each month except Aug. Respectively 73, 37, 55, 66, 53 students attended these monthly courses during this period. No course was conducted during Dec 02.
  • Pre Basic II Course.  This quarterly course was conducted during the first four Sundays of Jul & Nov 02 and attended by 38 and 36 students respectively.
  • Basic Course.  This six monthly course was being conducted on every Thursday. Two batches comprising the morning and evening sessions of 134 & 127 students respectively passed out in Oct 02. Another two batches in Saturday morning and evening sessions of 78 and 124 students respectively commenced their classes on 31 Aug 02.
  • Advanced Course.  This six monthly course was also being conducted on a weekly basis. 88 students of this course passed out in Aug 02. Another two batches in Thursday morning and evening sessions of 65 and 52 students respectively commenced their classes on 28 Nov 02.


State of Treatment Centers: 2002

By the end of 2002, 48 affiliate acupressure treatment centers had been established across the country out of which 13 had been established at Allahabad , nine at Kolkota, four at Lucknow, three at Delhi and one each at Sultanpur, Ranchi, Jabalpur, Adipur (Kutch), Dhar, Bhuvneshwar, Indore, Jodhpur, Bhagalpur, Dehradun, Katni, Begusarai, Bareilly, Bhadohi, Bulandshahar, Karanjia (Orissa), Siliguri, Bhilwara and Jaipur.  


Free Treatment/Acupressure Awareness Camps during 2002

Free treatment cum acupressure awareness camps were organized by the Sansthan during the year at Rishikesh (Parmarth Niketan), Katni, Damoh, Bhagalpur and Jodhpur. Free treatment camps were organized at Delhi, Surat, Bhilwara and Karanjia (Orissa). An awareness programme was conducted at Railway Officers Club, Allahabad.

Training camps were organized by the Sansthan during the year at Delhi, Faridabad, Lucknow, Vadodara, Bareilly, Purnea (Bihar), Kolkata, Surat, Bhilwara and Karanjia (Orissa).
